Why Shoot on Film vs Digital?

Most of the photos on this site were shot on film and scanned in on a flatbed scanner.  So why shoot anything on film these days, when you can just shoot it with a digital camera in less time, at lest cost?
The results speak for themselves.  Here is a comparison of a 100% crop from a 20 megapixel digital image (shot in RAW, converted to monochrome in Photoshop and sharpening applied) with a 100% crop from the scanned film image (shot on 5x7 inch sheet film) from the previous posting from Blackhand Gorge.  Click on each image and see for yourself...
